August at NTS: A Month of Honoring Our Nation’s Heroes
Welcome to our August news roundup! This past month, the NTS team was dedicated to honoring and supporting the brave men and women of our nation’s military. From celebrating key military anniversaries to engaging directly with the veteran community, our focus remained on recognizing the invaluable contributions of those who serve.
Honoring Our Armed Forces
Throughout August, we took time to recognize several important military milestones and observances:
National Purple Heart Day (August 7th): We honored the brave individuals who were wounded or killed in service, remembering the Purple Heart’s storied history as America’s oldest military decoration.
National Airborne Day (August 16th): We celebrated the “sky soldiers” and their groundbreaking parachute jumps, which have been a critical component of our military since 1940.
Marine Corps Reserve Birthday (August 29th): We recognized the important mission of the Marine Corps Reserve, which has been providing trained units to reinforce active-duty forces since 1916.
Department of Defense (DoD) Birthday (August 10th): We celebrated the DoD’s role in safeguarding our nation, acknowledging the dedicated service of military members and civilian personnel alike.
Connecting with Our Veterans and Their Families
Our commitment to the military community extended beyond recognition days. The NTS team attended the Richmond Veterans Benefits and Resource Fair, an event for veterans, service members, and their families.
Hosted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, our staff had a great time engaging with attendees and helping them discover meaningful career opportunities at NTS. We are proud to support those who have served and their families in their transition to civilian life.
At NTS, our gratitude for the military runs deep. We extend our sincerest thanks to all who serve with dedication, excellence, and honor.
