NTS is hiring an ON-SITE Level II Network Administrator/Desktop Support Tech to provide the technical expertise needed to support day-to-day operations for our client located in the Fredericksburg, VA area. 

Overview

The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the computer networks. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to ticket escalations from the desktop support group.
  • Entering the requests in ticketing system and resolving issues as prioritized.
  • Completing moves, adds, & changes of users in our local AD system.
  • Administration of Office 365 including confirming AD is synchronized to MS Office 365.
  • Aiding Sr Network Engineer with projects specific to the Corporate Office infrastructure or Store WAN infrastructure.
  • Providing CIO with weekly reports on activities and project status.
  • Re-wiring PC’s and phones in Offices, Cubicles, and wiring closet.
  • Providing secondary call support for store users.
  • Responding to security events as alerted by the Network Security Team.
  • Train and educate end users on Office 365 applications such as Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Ensure WiFi and network connectivity for end users’ laptops both locally and remotely.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Installs and maintains network file servers and network operating systems; ensures that backup copies of all files are routinely made and securely stored at separate location; maintains system documentation.
  • Provides second level technical support to users concerning network system operations.
  • Diagnoses problems with network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriate.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains multi-user software to be accessed from file servers.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains network cabling and other networking equipment such as hubs, switches, and UPS.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices
  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Perform network design and capacity planning.
  • Works with System Administrator and Director of Institutional Services in planning, installation, and documentation of network topology and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems from Version 10 to current.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server systems, with Linux variations as a bonus
  • Knowledge of Active Directory system administration.
  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) certification preferred but not required.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
  • Experience with Windows desktop imaging, patching, updating, and upgrading.
  • Familiarity with current Enterprise Antivirus and Anti-Malware protection products and centralized administration of the products.
  • Experience with Wireless Access Points and troubleshooting wireless connectivity
  • Printing and print servers in an MS AD infrastructure.
  • Some knowledge of VOIP and troubleshooting VOIP phones and connectivity.
  • Basics of LAN switching and routing.
  • Familiarity with Firewalls, basic WAN connectivity, and VPN configuration.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and associated desktop and cloud-based applications.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure.
  • Basic knowledge of a virtualization environment with VMWare.
  • Ability to communicate with end users in a clear and concise manner without using over technical terms or phrases.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in computer science, data processing, or related field
  • Three to five years of networking experience, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position
  • Operational knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and application virtualization
  • Operational knowledge of network and routing protocol
  • Operational knowledge of Windows Server and Active Director
  • Operational knowledge of switch configuration and programming

Salary Range: 
$65k – $85k depending on experience and certificatio
ns.  

Must be able to pass criminal background check, have a valid license and reliable transportation
