September at NTS: Connecting with the Community and Honoring Our Heroes

Welcome to our September news roundup! This past month, the NTS team was dedicated to engaging the next generation of professionals, supporting mental health and fighting hunger in our local community, and continuing our commitment to honoring our nation’s military.

Investing in the Future of IT

We hit the ground running by connecting with students who are curious about a future in technology.

Henrico County Public Schools LIFE Ready Expo: On Wednesday evening, September 17th, we had the pleasure of attending the dynamic LIFE (Learning Investigating Future-interest) Ready Expo at Hermitage High School.

  • Hundreds of students from the 9th through 12th grade, many with their parents, packed the venue to explore future career paths.
  • Our NTS team was front and center, engaging with curious minds about the world of Information Technology.
  • We showcased exciting opportunities waiting in the tech field, from cybersecurity and network engineering to infrastructure services and web design.
  • The enthusiasm was contagious, and we were thrilled to answer questions, share insights, and inspire the next generation of IT professionals.

Supporting Our Local Community

Our commitment to giving back was a major focus in September, with our team participating in initiatives to support mental wellness and tackle childhood hunger.

The SpeakUp 5K / Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation

The NTS team joined up, both in person and virtually, along with former employees, to participate in the impactful SpeakUp 5K. This event encourages Richmonders to speak up for mental health and change how we view and discuss mental health struggles. We love participating in this bright and powerful race every year!

Fighting Childhood Hunger with Backpacks of Love, Inc.: In honor of National Food Bank Day, and as part of our ongoing commitment, NTS was proud to make a donation to Backpacks of Love, Inc.

  • This incredible organization works to combat childhood hunger in Central Virginia by providing meals to school-aged children for the weekends when they don’t have access to school lunches.
  • They support children in the surrounding areas of Amelia, Buckingham, Chesterfield, Cumberland, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, Powhatan and the City of Hopewell.
  • We also dropped off our collected items with the organization, delighted to support their vital mission. We love supporting our local community and will always continue to do our part in helping to better our surrounding areas.

Honoring Our Armed Forces

Throughout September, we took time to recognize several important military milestones and observances:

National POW/MIA Recognition Day

The third Friday in September is dedicated to honoring the brave members of the Armed Forces who are prisoners of war (POW) or missing in action (MIA). This serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by these individuals and their families. We proudly support our service members and their families, recognizing the profound contributions and sacrifices of those who are or have been prisoners of war or are missing in action.

United States Air Force Birthday

September 18th commemorates the establishment of the United States Air Force on this date in 1947. Since then, the U.S. Air Force has become one of the swiftest tactical forces, ready to be deployed anywhere in the world. NTS proudly supports our Air Force members and their families, recognizing the invaluable contributions of these courageous men and women who serve with dedication and commitment.

Celebrating Our Team

Finally, we took a moment to celebrate our most valuable asset: our people! We celebrated our staff with September birthdays, hoping everyone enjoyed slices of cake and their special day.

At NTS, our gratitude for the military runs deep, and our commitment to our local community is stronger than ever. Thank you to everyone who made September such an active and rewarding month!
